Whether you agree or disagree with the concept, Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are here to stay. If you're responsible for selling or letting a residential or commercial property an EPC MUST be commissioned before marketing can begin and in any case before completion. 

Since October 2008 all Landlords have been required to have a valid Energy Performance Certificate / EPC for each self contained property to be marketed for let. These certificates can only be produced by qualified and accredited professionals. Fortunately however, in most cases these certificates are valid for 10 years - once you have obtained one you can carry on, safe in the knowledge that you are legally compliant.
